Game News The 10 major video games planned for Game Pass before Christmas 2022
While the excellent Tinykin and Immortality have just arrived on “day one” in the Game Pass, other games are about to be made available to users of Microsoft’s service. Although the first party titles of the American firm are rare for this end of the year, the giant knows how to rely on its partners to strengthen the proposal of its catalog. While waiting for the Lies of P, Wo Long and other Forza Motorsport which will land at the beginning of 2023, we are delivering a selection of apps that should delight Game Pass subscribers.

With Atomic Heart having been pushed back to 2023 and Deathloop having just been announced in Game Pass, the article has been updated to reflect the latest announcements.
September
death loop
Announced at Microsoft’s TGS conference, the Xbox version of Deathloop will finally arrive in Game Pass on September 20, 2022. As a reminder, Bethesda’s game is more action-oriented than a Dishonored and has fun showing us all colors with its time loop story. At the same time deep, funny and complex, the software developed by Arkane delivers varied situations. Benefiting from a loop concept without time being counted, Deathloop encourages experimentation. The chance of encounters (with Julianna led by other players) and the rise in power of the hero will make you have a great time.
Grounded
Available in early access since 2020, Grounded will arrive in version 1.0 on September 27, 2022. This launch will be accompanied by a new update that will bring some new features. As a reminder, Grounded is a survival game developed by Obsidian (Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity) in which the player embodies a teenager who has been shrunk. As a result, anything that was once harmless, like an ant or a spider, now poses a great threat. Playable in four in cooperation, the software exclusive to the Xbox ecosystem requires you to build facilities to better fight the insects in the area… and try to regain a normal size. The game was nominated for the Game Awards in the “Innovation in accessibility” category and had 10 million players at the start of this year.

A Plague Tale: Requiem
After escaping the rats and the inquisition in the province of Guyenne, it is towards Provence that Amicia and Hugo head while the hordes of rats continue to invade the Kingdom of France. Direct sequel to the very good A Plague Tale: Innocence, nominated for the Game Awards 2019 in the category “Best Storytelling”, A Plague Tale: Requiem will be available to Game Pass subscribers on October 18, 2022. If discretion is still the key word for this opus, Amicia has become an outstanding fighter. Weapons will have a more important place in Requiem, without this transforming the title into an action game, rest assured.
Persona 5 Royal
Rewarded with an impressive 95/100 on Metacritic in its PlayStation 4 version, Persona 5 Royal celebrates its arrival on Microsoft machines by landing directly in the Game Pass. This JRPG developed by Atlus is an updated version and translated into French of Persona 5, itself considered to be the best PS4 game of 2017 according to Metacritic, arriving ahead of Undertale, What Remains of Edith Finch and Horizon Zero Dawn. Persona 5 Royal is the ultimate form of the adventures of Joker and the Phantom Thieves. The software having been able to seduce players completely hermetic to J-RPGs (and turn-based combat), we can only advise you to try it if you are subscribed to the service when it arrives on October 21, 2022.
Scorn
As one of the very first games presented to showcase the features of the Xbox Series X, Scorn is a first-person game with a horrifying atmosphere. The player is immersed in a hostile world filled with puzzles to be solved in order to progress. Focused on narration, Scorn has an artistic direction reminiscent of the work of HR Giger (Alien) and should have a lifespan of around 8 hours of play. We have few details on this mysterious title that plays the gloomy card, but the developers at Ebb Software assure us that we will have news very soon. Scorn is an Xbox exclusive coming to Game Pass on October 21, 2022.
Signalis
Relatively discreet despite being highlighted by both Xbox and PlayStation, Signalis is a horror game to watch. Taking place in a dystopian future, the software developed by Rose-Engine asks us to escape from nightmarish creatures. Inspired by old-school survival-horror, Signalis will make the player feel uneasy with scarce resources and multiple monsters lurking in the darkness. The developers cite Stanley Kubrick, Hideaki Anno and David Lynch as inspirations. The game was part of the official elections for the 2021 Tribeca Festival and the 2018 Strasbourg Indie Game Contest. It will arrive in Game Pass on October 27, 2022.

Penance
Since gamescom, the expectation intensifies around Pentiment. Named in the category of the best original game of the German show, what looks like a small indie game is in fact the new production of Josh Sawyer (screenwriter on Fallout New Vegas) for the account of Obsidian, under the bosom of Microsoft . The plot is reminiscent of that of the film The Name of the Rose (by Jean-Jacques Annaud), with a murder committed in a 16th century Benedictine abbey. The player must solve this crime by playing as Andreas Maler, a boarding master artist. Pentiment promises multiple possibilities as well as various storyline branches, all under an eye-catching artistic direction, with a style imitating 16th century paintings. According to the lucky ones who were able to play it at gamescom, this “little” Obsidian project could well be one of the best games of the end of the year. All you have to do is wait until November 15, 2022 to play it via the Game Pass.
Warhammer 40k Darktide
After the Warhammer universe and its very nice Vermintide 1 & 2, it’s Warhammer 40,000’s turn to invite fans of intense action. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a co-op PvE FPS with Hack’n Slash elements. Here, firearms (or laser) are in the spotlight, which does not prevent chainswords from also being part of the game. Fatshark ensures that the gameplay of its software will offer effective synergies between classes. We want to take their word for it. With its bloody decapitations, team battles against hordes of opponents, chainsaw carving, and skull-and-legs capable of hacking facilities, there are definitely several reasons to wait for this Xbox/PC exclusive to arrive.day one” in Game Pass, November 30, 2022.

High on Life
Announced at the 2022 Xbox Showcase, High on Life is imagined by Justin Rolland, the creator of the Rick & Morty series. This is what explains his wacky universe, based on extraterrestrials who want to transform living beings… into drugs. The title developed by Squanch Games takes the form of an FPS where the originality lies in the fact that the weapons are alive. “We have already seen this in Oddworld: The Fury of the Stranger” would you be entitled to yell. And you would be right. Except that here, the weapons are real talking mills! In the videos presented, the totally absurd dialogues between the hero’s gun and the NPCs were indeed reminiscent of those of the Rick & Morty series. Announced only on Xbox and PC, High on Life will be released on December 13, 2022 in the Game Pass.
Somerville
Planned for a wave “fourth quarter 2022”, Somerville is still scheduled to land soon. Unveiled at the 2021 Xbox Showcase, it had impressed thanks to a sought-after artistic direction and a staging that seemed particularly neat. Imagined by Dino Patty, one of the thinking heads of Playdead (Limbo), Somerville is a narrative adventure anchored in a universe of science fiction. The player is invited to find his family then to survive with them in a world invaded by an extra-terrestrial power. Written and directed by Chris Olsen, the software should mix adventure, platforms and puzzle. The Jumpship studio assures that it will not be a disguised Inside, and that the concept will go much further than what has been shown so far.
