🎙️ Yoann Richomme (Paprec Arkéa, Class40), during his session this morning

It’s fine. I try to rest in this infernal machine. I’m tired of it, it’s a bit long. This straight leg on the same setting for three days is easy but not very interesting, even if I have the advantage of the situation by being in the lead. I stay faster than my pursuers, I keep digging. I benefit from a better wind angle or more wind. Maybe even both! 110 miles ahead is starting to get comfortable. So much the better, but I can’t wait to put on the spinnaker and enjoy it a little more. The spinnaker, it should be now but it’s not worth coming. Maybe in the early morning. I’m half in a hurry. I will then have a slightly flatter boat, but it won’t be much quieter. The wind will remain strong until the finish. The trade wind is very strong, we won’t have any speed problems! This straight edge, we will keep it until the last 24 hours of racing. Strategy level, there is not much to do before. For me, it’s so much because it’s easier to defend than to have people attacking in all directions. The boat and the man are doing well. I must admit that I was really exhausted after the passage in the high pressure and all this accumulation of lack of sleep of the first week so I really appreciated taking long naps

📹 Nicolas Troussel disguises himself as MacGyver on his Imoca with a pilot breakdown

Nicolas Troussel (Corum) is sailing on Sunday morning in 16th position in the Imoca of the 12th Route du Rhum, 534 miles behind the leader, Thomas Ruyant (LinkedOut). Problem ! Left with three autopilots, he had lost one from the start and the other two left him in the Atlantic. Race over? No. On the advice of his technical team, he transformed the angle sensor cylinders of his foils into rudder angle sensor cylinders. It works… for now!

🥈 Quentin Vlamynck (Arkéma) takes 2nd place in Ocean Fifty

🎙️ Jérémie Beyou (Charal, Imoca) on vacation this morning

I came back well on those in front and I dug on those behind, it was good, except that there I got into a big squall at 35 knots. I didn’t see it coming at all, it rocked the boat. Time to put everything back in place, I have a sail that is half in the water. Listening skipped. By the time I put it all back together, I’ve lost quite a bit of distance and there’s a bit of a mess on board. There, there are between 23 and 26 knots on average, it’s very strong. I tried to gybe a little inside the road so as not to get behind those in front. You have to try things. The idea is not just to keep Kevin Escoffier behind. If ever there is a door that opens, the objective is to get as close as possible to those in front to begin the tour of the island not too far behind them. I am on the attack. I didn’t shrink the canvas so it’s a bit warm. This straight line, we have for 20 hours and it’s going to be 20 hours of hell, but I’m on the job. When we will arrive in Guadeloupe, we will be on point, well as it should be. A lot of stuff is going to happen. The boats have to hold. For the tour of the island, it will be above all the freshness of the guys that will count.
