The Warriors explode the Spurs in front of 68,323 spectators!

Concerned Warriors start the match on a 17-4. It takes five minutes to see the Spurs score their first basket of the game. Romeo Langford then launches a 9-0 which revives the Texans but the outside address of the Golden State substitutes allows them to keep the lead (33-28).

Passed through this hall in 2018, during the NCAA final, the duo Jordan Poole – Donte DiVincenzo drives the point home and allows his team to take a 13-point lead by starting the second period with a 16-8 (49-36) . Josh Richardson and Doug McDermott keep the Spurs in ambush but Steve Kerr’s men do not release the pressure and two lay-ups from Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole give them a 14-point lead at the break (74-60).

Two walkers from Golden State give the Spurs momentum after returning from the locker room. The latter return to two possessions but seven points in a row from Klay Thompson launch a 23-7 which puts the Spurs KO standing (101-79)!

The gap reached 25 units at the end of the third quarter and the Warriors finished the game in freewheel to find the way to victory (144-113).

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

– The Warriors’ offense is regaining its balance. After taking nearly 60% of their 3-point shots in their last three games, the Warriors have taken advantage of San Antonio’s porous defense to attack the circle with dribbles or cuts. At the break, they had taken 38% of their shots from the circle, well above their average this season (25%), at 16/19 on shots. They finished the match with 70 points in the key, 55% shooting success, 33 assists, and eight players over ten points.

– The difficult learning of Spurs. This season, Gregg Popovich acts as an educator more than a coach for young Spurs. San Antonio has the league’s worst defense, the second-worst record in the Western Conference, and the fourth-worst record in the league. The Warriors, who were coming off a disastrous loss to Phoenix, left them no chance, counting up to 39 points ahead. Their fans, however, have responded and they understand that they are among the favorites to be able to draft Victor Wembanyama next June. One of their fans had also taken the lead by flocking the black Spurs jersey with the name of the Frenchman.

68,323 spectators, a new NBA record. The Spurs celebrated their 50th NBA season by returning to the Alamodome to break the NBA single-game attendance record, held so far by the Hawks and Georgia Dome in a game against Michael Jordan’s Bulls in 1998 (62,046). The Spurs had played in the Alamodome, American football stadium, from 1993 to 2002. Moreover, the first NBA game in this enclosure took place on November 5, 1993 against these same Golden State Warriors. Many Spurs legends, including David Robinson, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, were on hand to mark the historic evening.
